The Ennspongau is one of THE hotspots of Austrian winter sports. The region is characterized by cold and snowy winters. A special treat: Some of the official snow measurement series go back to the year 1900.

Winter Temperatures in the Alps

Let's have a look how winter temperatures in the Alps have developed over the last 50 years. We analyzed homogenized temperature data from 12 mountain weather stations in the Alps, mostly at summit locations. Our most important findings: The linear trend shows a slight increase of 0.7 degrees – which is not statistically significant. In other words: Over the past 50 years, there has been no provable shift in winter temperatures in summit locations in the Alps.
